Are you a mom looking to earn extra money while staying home with your kids or something to do on the side?

eBay can be a fantastic platform for you to start a side hustle. Whether you want to declutter your home or start a small business, eBay provides a user-friendly platform to sell items online.

In this blog post, I'll walk you through setting up an eBay account and listing items to help you kick-start your mommy side hustle.

Step 1: Setting Up Your eBay Account

To get started on eBay, you'll need to create an account; Visit the eBay website and click on the "Register" button. You will be prompted to enter your personal information, such as your name, address, and email. Choose a username that reflects your business or the items you plan to sell. Once you've completed the registration process, you'll have your own eBay account ready to go.

Step 2: Research and Find Your Niche

Before you start listing items on eBay, it's essential to do some research and find your niche. Consider what items you have at home that you no longer need, or think about what products you could source to sell on eBay. As a mom, you may have kids' clothing, toys, or baby gear that could be in high demand. Additionally, you might consider crafting or handmade items if you're skilled in that area. By identifying your niche, you can focus your efforts on selling items that are likely to attract buyers.

Step 3: Listing Items on eBay

Once you've identified the items you want to sell, it's time to create your listings.

Log in to your eBay account and click the "List an Item" button. You'll be prompted to provide details about the item, including a title, description, and photos.

Be sure to accurately describe the condition of the item and include clear, high-quality photos to attract potential buyers. You'll also need to set a price and decide on shipping options. Consider using eBay's auction-style listings or fixed-price listings based on the type of items you're selling. Auction-style listings can create a sense of urgency and competition among buyers, while fixed-price listings provide a set price for the item.

Step 4: Shipping and Setting a Price When setting up shipping for your items, consider the weight and dimensions of the package and whether you want to offer free shipping or charge buyers for shipping costs. eBay offers various shipping options, including USPS, FedEx, and UPS. You can also print shipping labels and manage your shipments directly through eBay. When I am listing the Price for an item I will typically do a little research on said item. I try to find the item listed on eBay from another seller and find a low price and high price. When I auction said item I will set the price close to what I see listed on the low end from other sellers. For the Buy It Now Option I usually set that price closer to the higher end of what I find

Example: If I have an item that I find listed at low end, $14 and then again at high end, $26, I would start the auction anywhere from $10 - $14 depending on quality of item. Then for the Buy it now option I would list it from $20 - $26 depending on the quality of the item.

Finally,

After you've created your listings, be prepared to promptly respond to any inquiries from potential buyers and to manage the shipping and delivery of your sold items. In conclusion, eBay can be a valuable platform for moms looking to earn extra money as a side hustle.

By setting up your eBay account and carefully listing your items, you can begin your journey as an eBay seller. Whether you're selling items you no longer need at home or starting a small business, eBay offers a convenient and flexible way to make money while balancing your responsibilities as a mom. Good luck with your mommy side hustle selling on eBay!

I set up my own eBay account 2 months ago when I was on Maternity Leave, and since then I've made about $300 (gross). Some fees will be taken out of your max total but in my opinion that is to be expected from any business. In total, I've made about $500 net but after shipping fees, promotional fees, and eBay fees, I've made around $300 selling on eBay, which still isn't bad in my book seeing as I was trying to go thru my house and get rid of stuff in my free time.
